JRL condemns Baramulla civilian killings, appeals UN for inquiry

Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday strongly condemned the outrageous and inhuman statement by Kavinder Gupta of BJP that the deliberate and gruesome rape and murder of 8-year-old child Asifa from Kathua was a “small matter which was given importance “. It reflects the sick communal mindset and value structure of the “proud RSS man “.

JRL in a statement said that inducting another organizer of the Pro rapist rallies Ravinder Jasrotia into the government clearly shows that BJP does not believe in deviating from its politics of polarisation and appeasement of certain communities for votes, even on a basic human issue like this, which is not surprising. It just reinforces the fact of how helpless the local collaborators, the PDP is and how shameless they can be to stay on for the sake of chair. It also indicates how much justice can be expected for Asifa from a system run by such people.

JRL also expressed concern and condemnation over the killing of three youth from old town Baramulla. JRL said that time and again people are killed in such a manner and no one knows who killed them as the killers remain unidentified. While the state authorities conveniently blame armed youth the militant organisation, in fact, condemn the killings and many time blame state agencies. In the process, the culprits never get identified. JRL said it is a matter of serious concern and needs to be investigated appealing the UN to take note of this and set up an impartial inquiry into these killings.

JRL reiterated that any killing on grounds of political or party affiliations is inhuman and un-Islamic and unacceptable to people and leadership of Kashmir.

JKLF expresses solidarity with slain Pulwama militants, civilian

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to slain Drabgam militants Sameer Tiger, Aqib Khan and a civilian Shahid Ahmad  Dar. The trio was killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Drabgam village of Pulwama district.

The spokesman said a JKLF delegation managed to reach Pulwama and participated in funeral prayers and their burials. Speaking on the occasion, JKLF delegation leader said that the nation of Kashmir is indebted to these great sons of soil who are sacrificing their lives for a righteous cause. He said that rulers have choked every little political space on our youth, pushed them to the wall and left no other option for them but to sacrifice their lives. While expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, JKLF delegation prayed for their Sabr-I- Jamil.

CPI (M) condemns killing of civilians in Baramulla, Pulwama

While strongly condemning the killing of a youth in forces firing in Pulwama area of south Kashmir and killing of three more youth at the hands of ‘unidentified gunmen’ in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, State Secretary CPI(M) Ghulam Nabi Malik, on Tuesday questioned how long the blood of civilians will continue to flow in Kashmir.

The spokesman said reckless killing of civilians at the hands of both the parties involved in the conflict continues unabated. I have no words to condemn these killings as mere condemnations every time isn’t enough. Condemnation and ordering a probe after every killing is not a solution to the problem, but time has come when political leadership rising above the ideological difference should come together to stop these killings.

While expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, he demanded an immediate end to the civilian killings in the Valley. The killing of civilians can never be the solution to any problem. Whether a civilian is killed by the bullet from one side or the other side, it is a loss of precious human life. Whose ‘cause’ is fulfilled by the killings of civilians? Unfortunately, it is a Kashmiri who is getting killed every day.

Five injured in Sonamarg road accident

Srinagar

At least five persons were critically injured after a Truck collided with a Santro Car in Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.

Reports said that the Santro car bearing registration number JK01N/2835 was on way to Srinagar from Sonamarg when it collided with the truck (bearing number JK15/6334) at Sonamarg, resulting into injuries to five persons.

The injured were immediately rushed to PHC Sonamarg for treatment, where from doctors referred them to SKIMS Soura in critical condition, reports said.

Militants, army exchange fire in Hajin village; searches on

Srinagar

Government forces on Tuesday launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Shahgund area of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after militants exchanged fire with the army.

Reports said that army men boarding a civilian vehicle reached Rahimgund mohalla of Shahgund when two militants were coming out of a mosque around 2 pm.

They said that the militants fired at the army men, who retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

The militants escaped from the spot, but more forces were rushed to the area and a search operation is underway, said an official.

Following the firing exchange, shopkeepers down their shutters and traffic disappeared from the roads.

Meanwhile, mobile Internet service has been snapped in the area.

CASO launched in Old town Baramulla

Srinagar

Forces on Tuesday launched a cordon-and-search-operation in north Kashmir’s Old town Baramulla.

An official said that a joint team of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched the operation in the area to nab the assailants who killed three civilians in Khanpora area last night.

He said that searches are being carried out in some parts of the town.

Three civilians – Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Asghar – all residents of Kakarhamam – were killed by gunmen in Khanpora last night.

The search operation was going on when the last reports came in.Further details are awaited.

KEA, KTMF to boycott functions presided by Rajiv Jasrotia

Reacting sharply to the elevation of “pro-rapist” MLA Rajiv Jasrotia, who had hosted a pro-rapist rally in Kathua, into state Cabinet, the Kashmir Economic Alliance Chairperson Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan said his forums would boycott events where ever Jasrotia is invited as a guest.

Khan who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation said it was unfortunate that to be in power the ruling PDP was rubbing shoulders with pro-rapist faces, who want the release of gangsters involved in gang-rape and murdered an eight-year-old girl.

“This is not the issue of politics or religion but humanity. When even New Delhi based media which is otherwise seen anti-Kashmir has taken a stand against the elevation of the pro-rapists as ministers, how can people of the home state tolerate elevation of the pro-rapist lobby,” Khan said.

Stating that his forums prefer humanity over the business, Khan said the KEA and KTMF would be boycotting all the events where “pro-rapist” politicians are invited.

Previously also Khan said the KEA and KTMF had distanced themselves from functions where the then “pro-rapist” ministers Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash Ganga were present.

Meanwhile taking a dig at Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta’s remarks that Kathua rape and murder was a small incident, Yasin Khan said: “The RSS man’s remarks have insulted humanity.”
