SRINAGAR: The first batch of pilgrims from Kashmir left for Jeddah on Sunday after a gap of two years when the pilgrimage was held in a limited manner in Saudi Arabia due to the pandemic.
The first group comprised 145 pilgrims including 80 men and 65 women. Special buses from the Srinagar Hajj House in Bemina area took the pilgrims to the Srinagar airport in the wee hours of Sunday.
Officials said that among 145 pilgrims, 68 are from Srinagar district, 8 from Anantnag, 29 from Bandipora, 16 from Baramulla, Budgam 9, Ganderbal 2, Kulgam 2, Kupwara 3, Pulwama 4 and Ramban 4
Besides, accommodation for pilgrims from far-off places, the arrangements for sanitation and eatables were also made available at Srinagar Hajj house for the pilgrims.
