JK’s Traditional Political Parties Running Away From Their Commitments: Altaf Bukhari

SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday took a strong exception to the hollow promises made by some traditional political parties of Jammu and Kashmir during the recent District Development Council elections.

Addressing a day-long Party convention at Damhal-Hajipora in district Kulgam, Bukhari asserted that such political parties in J&K have once again got exposed for their double-dealing and deceitful politics carried out for avid and ulterior electoral gains.

“Why are those political parties who had promised restoration of Articles 370 & 35-A through DDC elections, mum? They possess no sense of shame or feel remorseful for deceiving and playing with the emotions of the people,” Bukhari remarked.

He, however, said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir shall hold them accountable for their misdeeds and political gimmickry. “These political parties must answer about the promises made with the people prior to DDC elections or otherwise Apni Party shall be forced to unveil their two-faced designs,” Bukhari observed.

The one-day Party convention was organized by Apni Party Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Padder and was attended by a significant number of Party workers and the general public.

Besides the Party President, the convention was also addressed by Party leaders including Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, State Secretary and District President Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-din, Apni Party Senior Leader and Chairman Anantnag Municipal Council Hilal Ahmad Shah, Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather, District President Kupwara Raja Manzoor, District President Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Mir, and District Vice President Shopian Abdul Qayoom Shah alongwith Reyaz Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Malik, Gul Mohammad Tantray, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Irshad Poswal, Abdul Hamid Dar, Malik Mohammad Lateef, Gulshana Parvez, Rouf Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Ashraf Naik.

During his speech, Bukhari said that Apni Party has never resorted to emotive sloganeering or stressed on frivolous issues that hardly affect normal public life in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Apni Party adheres to the principle of ‘Politics of Truth’ and has always focused on concrete issues that are relevant to the welfare of the people. For that our one-year journey is ample proof of what we have achieved so far and what else is rigorously being followed up in the interest of public welfare,” he said.

Bukhari also reiterated that regaining statehood is the core demand of Apni Party. He said: “Statehood is indispensable for such a vast region as Jammu and Kashmir. An erstwhile State like Jammu and Kashmir cannot be managed by a bureaucratic regime. We urge the Central Government to go for restoration of statehood to J&K at an earliest so that democratic process would start accordingly in proper manner,” Bukhari said.

On the occasion Party Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Padder thanked the Party President and the leadership for visiting district Kulgam while avowing to strengthen the Party at grassroot level.
