Mend your behaviour or face resistance: Rasheed to Army

Srinagar: Incumbent MLA Langate and Awami Ittehad Party chief Er Rasheed on Monday warned the Army to mend the behaviour or be prepared to face mass resistance.

In a statement issued here, the firebrand lawmaker said that he deferred the proposed program to stop the army convoy on Baramulla-Kupwara highway after getting assurance from the district and army administration that the incident which took place on Sunday at Super Naghama would not be repeated and army would be made accountable in future while carrying moving on various routes of district Kupwara.

The statement quoting Rasheed said, “Hooliganism at Super Naghama is the second incident during last two months and is absolutely intolerable and un-acceptable. It would be in the interest of army not to unnecessarily provoke masses , who are already running out of patience due to the state terrorism and in absence of any credible and transparent accountability.”

Rasheed said that army must know that J&K is a dispute and they can’t rule at the barrel of gun by simply finding themselves at liberty to kill Kashmiris or hit them with pellets and bullets.

“While the law enforcing agencies in the largest state of UP in collaboration with the private army of Yogi Aadityanath, are busy in bulldozing and locking down the business establishments of minority community, the forces in Kashmir seem to have got encouraged from the activities of these Hindutva forces in UP and have started harassing, humiliating, torturing and kill Kashmiris.”

Rasheed said that while New Delhi has been accusing Kashmiris of communalizing the Kashmir issue and cries of “radicalization” within Kashmir, it needs to admit that army and other security agencies hate Kashmiris only for being Muslims.

Rasheed added that he has nothing personal against army or other agencies but at the same time he is duty bound to protect the life and property of every single person of his constituency and said that he will do everything to uphold the self respect of his people.
