Rights violation incidents can’t be tolerated: SP Vaid

Newly appointed State Police Chief SP Vaid Thursday said he will utilize all resources to minimize the rights violation incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. “The incidents of human rights violations can’t be tolerated. Every effort will be made to secure the life and property of the common men. Public service is the prime focused area of our deaprtment and zero tolerance on human rights violation will strengthen our relations with the public, and these will definitely yield good dividends on law and order scenario in the State,” Vaid said that ground situation will witness a major change in coming months.

“Cases of those youth not involved in major crimes will be reviewed and justice will be delivered to every victim. There is a need to adopt humane approach in solving the public interest cases and dealing law and order situations,” he said.

SP Vaid admitted that there is a wide gap between police and public. He said that all efforts will be taken to bridge this gap. “Police is meant for the protection of people and there should be no gap between the two. Behavioural change in policing at police station level is vital to gain public confidence and cooperation, which is a great factor for people friendly force. Community policing and humane approach would bring visible changes in the working of Jammu and Kashmir Police and strengthen police public relations,” he said adding that police will be armed with latest technology to deal with the crime in the society.

He asked for careful handling of law and order situations and said that use of lethal weapons should be avoided. He said that safety and security of the people is our prime concern. (CNS)
