Protested, Ankit Love Spends Night In Police Station

SRINAGAR: Ankit Love, a British citizen, found himself spending Monday night in police custody after organizing a demonstration outside the Udhampur police station, Indian Express reported.

Ankit had recently been granted an emergency visa by the Indian government to attend his mother Jay Mala’s cremation, following the withdrawal of his name from the ‘blacklist’. However, he was released on Tuesday afternoon upon orders from the local Tehsildar.

Ankit Love, son of the late Bhim Singh, the founder of the J&K National Panthers Party was accompanying former minister Harshdev Singh and his wife, who, along with their supporters, had organized a dharna (protest) outside the police station. Their demonstration was in response to the alleged harassment of one of their party workers.

While Harshdev Singh and his wife were released by the police on Monday evening, Ankit Love remained in custody as he refused to sign a bond that was requested by the authorities. However, the situation took a turn on Tuesday when Ankit was brought before the Tehsildar, who issued the order for his release.
