COVID-19 claims another life in Kashmir, toll 28

Srinagar

A 70-year old man from Aliarpora Shopian admitted with pneumonia, underlying hypertension and diabetes mellitus died at SMHS Hospital last night. His sample tested positive for COVID19 today.

Dr S Saleem Khan, in-charge COVID19 response at GMC Srinagar, said the patient was admitted on Wednesday afternoon as pneumonia with underlying hypertension and diabetes mellitus.
“However, in spite of our best efforts, the patient died on late Thursday evening,” he said.

The sample of the patient was found positive on Friday morning, Dr Khan said.

The body of the deceased was not released by Government Medical College Srinagar till the report of the sample was received.

With this fatality, 28 persons have so far died due to the disease in Jammu and Kashmir.
