GOI has flexed its policy about Kashmir issue: Omar

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that the policy of the Government of India towards the resolution of Kashmir has changed from its previously stated position.

Omar was addressing a seminar entitled ‘Discussion between India and Pakistan on J&K- A Historical Perspective’ at SKICC held under the auspices of Institute Of Kashmir Studies, University of Kashmir.

He said, “Who says that government of India has adhered to its old position on Kashmir issue, the policy of New Delhi towards the resolution of Kashmir has changed a lot.”

Chief Minister said that earlier the Government of India had given a clear mandate to the Parliament for integrating the two parts of Kashmirs on the either sides of the LoC.

“Government of India is now considering to make the borders irrelevant” he said, justifying tacitly the changed stance of the Government of India.

Castigating the BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi, Omar said that if the thoughts expressed by Modi during his election rallies are transformed into Government policies, then “God must come to the rescue of India”.

The seminar was also attended by the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of India, SK Lambah.
