SSP Shopian intervenes to facilitate release of 5 civilians from Madras

Five resident s of Shopian district were Friday detained on suspicion by Vijaywada Police in Andhra Pradesh and were later released only after the intervention of District Police Shopian.

The arrested were detained at Ganayaram Airport when they were found clicking the pictures of the Airport.

They were detained for questioning by the Police.

The arrested were identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar son of Ab Rehman Dar resident of Safanagri Shopian; Javaid Akbar son of Mohd Akbar Wani resident of Darwani; Amir Paul son of Gh Mohd Paul resident of Darwani; Sanullah Bhat son of Mohd Akbar Bhat resident of Darwani and Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh resident of Kashwa Shopian.

“All of them had gone to Vijayawada to admit their wards / relatives in a madrasa. They were found capturing videos and taking pictures around Gannavaram Airport and were detained for questioning by the Police,” SSP Shopian Tahir Saleem told Kashmir Life.

“After the family members of the detained came to know about the detention, they approached SHO Zahanpora who informed me accordingly. I personally spoke to the concerned authorities at Vijaywada and ensured their immediate release and they were released later in the evening,” Saleem said.

After the incident, Shopian Police established a helpline for the students of the district who are studying outside the state. The students have been requested to communicate on whenever any assistance is required on the following numbers 9596768831, 9596768822.
