Intense clashes broke out at Sumbora, Pampore in Pulwama district after people pelted stones at government forces who had laid a cordon in the area.

Four persons have reportedly been injured in the action after receiving bullet injuries in their legs.

According to initial reports, the forces had laid a cordon after receiving a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area. As the news about the presence of militants spread, locals came out and tried to break the cordon. The forces tried to disperse the crowd and opened fire.

However, police sources have confirmed injuries to two persons only.

After the violent clashes, the army had to call off the operation and the cordon was lifted, said a local police officer.  The injured have been shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for treatment.
