Holding play-cards seeking plebiscite on both sides of LoC in J&K, Incumbent MLA Langate Er Rasheed on the first day of assembly session held a sit in at the entrance of assembly complex, where Governor NN Vohra was scheduled to address the joint session.
A statement of the Rasheed’s Awami Ittehad party issued here said that Rasheed confronted Governor when he started his speech and reiterated that people of state don’t accept him as the Governor of the state. “Mr Vohra or anybody else has technically no right to hold the post of Governor as J&K is supposed to have its own elected president and Prime Minister.”
The statement reads, “He said that India’s might, would never force people of J&K to succumb, who are seeking right to self-determination.”
Later, the statement said, speaking at the obituary reference Er Rasheed said that since the house has unanimously agreed to pay tributes to those civilians killed in past six months in the state, as such it is proven that they were all innocents.
“Paying tributes and expressing solidarity with the families of victims of state terrorism is of no help, as it cannot bring the precious human lives back. However including the civilians in the list of assembly business for paying them tributes, proves that those martyred by army and police had not gone to buy toffees and milk, as was claimed by CM Mehbooba Mufti.”
Rasheed said, “Martyrs don’t need condolences or obituaries from those who are controlling their killers.”
Rasheed, according to the statement asked CM Mehbooba who was in the house to confess being guilty of killing innocents and said that her crocodile tears would never be of any help to the victims of “state terrorism”.
Rasheed rejected the congress legislature party leader Nawang Jora’s claim that mass uprising in Kashmir was due to unholy alliance between PDP and BJP and said that it is disgrace to the sacrifices and every member should realize and confess that those martyred were seeking nothing but Right to Self-Determination.
He blamed PM Modi for the border killings as his claims about surgical strikes created the war like atmosphere at borders.
