DGP Dr Vaid chairs first meeting, asks officers to live up to people’s expectations

After assuming his office as State Police Chief on Saturday afternoon, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid, on his arrival to Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Monday was given a warm welcome by the senior police officers and other staff members. An impressive guard of honour was given to the new police chief by the contingents of Armed Police at the lawns of PHQ.

Later, Dr. Vaid according to spokesman convened a meeting of officers from different wings of the Organisation and discussed functioning at different levels. He stressed the officers present in the meeting to focus on the priorities and ensure coordinated efforts from all ranks to bring improvements in the functioning of their wings. Better public service and maintenance of peace and order is our prime duty and the force has to in coordination with other agencies has to strengthen the mechanism, he added.

DGP said that crime and drug abuse are the areas, the force has to enhance its capabilities. “We have to undertake strenuous efforts and curb the activities of the criminals, who pose a great challenge for the force. People’s cooperation is mandatory to get the desired results in our fight against crime. Since men in khaki are eye centric and people repose faith in the force. We have to live up to their expectations,” said the DGP.

Dr. Vaid disclosed that for better policing and deliverance, “we have to keep the cops abreast with knowledge and make them tech savvy. Standards of discipline and interaction with the subordinate ranks are must to keep the morale of Jawans high.”

He said that JKP, by the dint of their dedication has faced various challenges and inscribed a history of successes which was not an easy way without the collective efforts and commitment of all ranks. “Our cops are working in different corners of the state in hostile situation created by the anti social elements and the weather also. Their welfare is our concern and we are committed to enhance working and living conditions of JKP personnel.” He asked the officers to come up with their suggestions to make the welfare schemes more employ friendly.

DGP asked the officers to chalk out a mechanism to address the difficulties faced by the cops in the field. He stressed upon them to make frequent visits to their subordinate formations and take on spot stock of hardships faced by the cops, for their redressal at different levels.
