Independent Langate lawmaker, Er Rasheed on Friday lashed out at NC and PDP for their “double standards” and asked both the parties to come clean on the role of Maharaja Hari Singh in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rasheed said that it is unfortunate that while NC has been “exploiting” people of state since 1947 to get dividends of late Sheikh Abdullah’s fight against Maharaja, Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister raised a memorial of Maharaja in Jammu city and now the party senior leader Devinder Rana has openly come in support of the resolution.
Rasheed said that Rana went a step ahead and demanded that the sentiments of Dogra’s should be respected.
As per a statement, amid heated arguments NC members including Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mohammad Akbar Lone gave clarification that views expressed by Rana were his personal but they couldn’t respond to Rasheed’s argument as to why Omar Abdullah raised a memorial of Maharaja in 2014.
Rasheed asked NC that Omar Abdullah and Devinder Rana should apologize publically.
Rasheed questioned as to how can those who were killed by Maharaja be the “martyrs” and Maharaja also the hero at the same time.
Amid heated arguments with BJP members, Rasheed asked BJP to clear its stand on why don’t they attend the martyrs day function on July 13 every year.
