#Assembly Day 2: Opposition seeks debate on Kashmir uprising, asks govt to ‘come clean’

As the first day of budget session on Monday was marked by protests, the second day, today, is not going to be any different.

The protests by opposition lawmakers on the first day of the proceedings.

The reports from opposition camp is that they (NC, Congress and some independent legislators) have unanimously decided that they won’t allow the ongoing budget session to run smoothly till the government doesn’t hold a debate on the Kashmir unrest.

Congress party’s leader of Opposition in the house, Nawang Rigzin Jora is quoted to have said that they  have submitted a motion before the Speaker that the government should first hold a debate about some controversial issues and the last summer uprising in Kashmir.

“We won’t allow government to discuss budget speech of governor and other proceedings of the house till the government doesn’t come clean on its stand,” Jora added.

Jora added that over 800 persons have been slapped with PSA and dozens were blinded during the uprising.

Pertinently lawmakers Monday raised slogans of South Kashmir cleric Sarjan Barkati  “Yeh pellet-bullet… na bhai na…yeh PAVA, SHAVA na bai na…PSA Sarkar Na bhai na” in the central hall of the assembly.
