National Conference Member Legislative Council Showkat Hussain Ganie Tuesday “glorified” the slain Hizb Commander Burhan Wani during a debate in Legislative Council on Kashmir uprising and termed him a freedom fighter.
In his speech in the upper house of the assembly, NC MLC Ganie said that Burhan Wani was a freedom fighter and a martyr. “Kashmiris will continue to cross over the LoC till the issue will be resolved.”
Interrupting NC lawmaker, PDP MLC Firdous Tak sought clarification from Ganie to confirm whether his words belonged to his party or the opinion is his personal.
Ganie said that he reiterated his stand and again referred the Hizb commander as “Freedom Fighter”.
He said that even Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin didn’t cross over to Pakistan to contest elections, but for the resolution of long-pending Kashmir dispute.
PDP members continued to interrupt Ganie during his speech.
