Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an inter-state gang in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Addressing a press conference here, SSP Kulgam, Muhammad Irshad said that the sixteen accused arrested had around a dozen cases registered against them.
“Goods worth lakhs have been recovered from them besides a Santro Car under registration number JK05B 2157,” he said.
“The gangsters belong to four district of J&K including Ramban, Reasi, Shopian and Kulgam,” he said, “it was a well knit group and FIRs in various cases were registered against them.”
The SSP, however, added that the kingpin of the gang will be arrested soon. Identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Rangrez, he is still evading arrest.
Giving details, he said various FIRs in police stations Kulgam, DH Pora, Yaripora and Qazigund are registered against them.
In Police Station Kulgam, FIRs 237/15, 55/16, 77/16, 78/16, 62/16, 90/16 u/s 457, 380 RPC are registered against them while, in Yaripora PS, FIR 98/15 u/s 457, 380, RPC and FIR 28/16 in PS Pulwama are registered against them. Similarly, FIR 59/16 u/s 457, 380, 511 RPC stands registered against them in PS Qazigund and in PS DH Pora, FIRs 76/16, 41/16 u/s 457, 380 RPC are registered against the gang.
The SSP said that the gang broken into at different places Srundoo, Qaimoh, Qazigund, DH Pora and Yaripora, looting goods worth lakhs.
The goods looted by the gang included cell phones, cameras, Laptops, readymade garments, saloon goods, cattle/sheep and Kiryana items from different shops on different occasions.
