Expressing his dismay over the “attitude” of the PDP-BJP coalition government, Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday said that by not allowing the funeral prayers of Amanullah Khan the government had “committed a great sin which will not be forgiven by the Almighty Allah”.
Strongly condemning the restrictions on the funeral prayers in absentia for the late JKLF co-founder, Amanullah Khan, imposing curfew in Lal Chowk and adjoining areas and detention of separatist leaders and activists by the police, Geelani said, “the government action is not only worst kind of state terrorism but it also amounts to direct interference into our religious affairs.”
The octogenarian leader said, “the government of Jammu & Kashmir has no respect for the laws or the moral values and the state is practically ruled by martial law. The people of this region are barred to following their faith and even the funeral prayers are banned here.”
He also strongly condemned the attitude of the state police for trying to act as more loyal than the king”, he said, “they had established a Gunda Raj in the state.”
