All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) joint meeting of Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee on April 27, 2016 chaired by Prof Ab Gani Bhat.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Wednesday held a joint meeting of Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee at its Rajbagh headquarters on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by senior member of the APHC-m’s Executive Council and former Chairperson, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under house confinement since this morning.

The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of all the constituents and the advisors of the conglomerate, a statement issued by the Hurriyat Conference (m) said this evening.

During the meeting, the statement said, Hurriyat leaders deliberated upon the recent political developments in Indo-Pak subcontinent and its effects on the entire South Asia besides taking stock of the APHC-m’s organizational affairs.

Welcoming the meeting between Indian and Pakistani Foreign Secretaries on the side lines of the Heart of Asia Conference in New Delhi, the APHC-m leaders said, “though this was a positive initiative which would help in breaking the ice in the strained relationship between the two countries, however, there was a need to show more seriousness towards making dialogue a consistent process and exhibiting progress on all outstanding issues between the two countries.”

Stressing that Kashmir remains the core issue between India and Pakistan, the APHC-m leaders said, “unless the two countries take steps to resolve this issue, peace and stability of the entire region would continue to remain a distant dream as other issues between the two countries were actually the offshoots of Kashmir issue.”

It was stated in the meeting that there was a need to take the resistance leadership of Kashmir into confidence and start a result-oriented dialogue process over Kashmir with seriousness so that a long-lasting and just solution of the issue was arrived at.

Terming the house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as “undemocratic and dictatorial”, the Hurriyat leaders condemned this action of the state administration

Condemning the curbs placed by the administration on stopping funeral prayers in absentia (Nimaz-e-Jinaza) of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front co-founder and senior resistance leader, Amanullah Khan, the participants of the meeting said this amounted to interference into religious duties by use of force, demonstrating the “extremist mind set” of the government thus proving its claims of democracy as completely hollow.
