Hundreds of the University of Kashmir students Friday assembled outside the Jamia masjid in the campus after congregational prayers and offered Funeral payers in absentia to the JKLF co-founder Amanullah Khan.

Khan breathed his last on Tuesday in a Rawalpindi hospital in Pakistan.

Soon after the Friday prayers the students assembled outside the masjid and held prayers, witnesses said, “They also held peaceful protests against the administration for barring people to offer prayers to the deceased leader.”

They said the students later dispersed peacefully.

Pertinently, octogenarian Hurriyat Conference (g) leader Syed Ali Geelani had called for peaceful Friday protests against the administration for barring people from participating in the funeral prayers of late Amanullah Khan. He had termed it “meddling in religious affiars.”
