Demanding immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in Kashmir and outside jails including those who were arrested recently by the state on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, Hurriyat (m) Tuesday strongly condemned the continuous incarceration of Kashmiris terming it as callous, unjustified and regrettable.

According to a statement issued, the conglomerate stated that Kashmiri political prisoners, particularly those lodged in Indian jails have to face lot of difficulties since jail manuals are not followed in their case. It stated, “the relatives of prisoners lodged in outside Kashmir jails have to undergo torturous times to meet their relatives. In some cases, it said the prisoners were not produced on hearing dates to increase their jail periods.”

The conglomerate demanded that the Kashmir prisoners lodged in outside J&K jails should be shifted back to Kashmir so that the detenues and their relatives feel a sigh of relief.

The Hurriyat (m) statements said, “it has been a ritual around the world to release prisoners from jails on auspicious days like Eid. However, India and its stooges in Kashmir continue to follow undemocratic and inhuman policy by not releasing the prisoners.”

The conglomerate also denounced the police action of arresting youth by conducting raids on their houses.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (m) strongly denounced the arrest of senior resistance leader Asiya Andrabi. Terming her arrest as unprovoked and unjustified, the Hurriyat amalgam stated that the leader was undergoing illness and it was illegal to keep her under confinement.

The conglomerate has demanded immediate release of Asia terming her arrest as blatant violation of law.
