Police Tuesday claimed to have arrested a CRPF trooper along with 50 bottles of codeine at Charligund Lalpora in Kupwara.
Zahoor Ahmad Khan son of Zareef Khan a constable of CRPF’s 81 Bn was arrested by police along with 50 bottles of codeine and lodged in police station. An FIR under 59/ 2015 under section 8/21 NDPS was registered in this regard.
Meanwhile, police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two forest officials and a driver and seized a tractor laden with illicit timber at Gagal Lolab in Kupwara.
Police said that in a joint action of police and forest protection force the trio including two forest officials, were detained when they were smuggling timber. Police said that the timber was laden in tractor bearing number JK09A- 2239 which was intercepted and seized for ferrying timber illegally at Gagal Lolab.
Police said that on investigation two officials from the forest department were found involved in the smuggling of the timber, who have been detained.
“A FIR 61/ 2015 under section 779/ 6 of Forest Act has been registered in this regard and investigations were going on to see if there were more people involved in the smuggling,” SHO Kulingam said.
Meanwhile, in smuggling case a Tata mobile bearing number HP- 650982 was seized for ferrying illicit timber at Babaya Top in Chowkibal area in Kupwara. Three smugglers were arrested and case has been registered in Kralpora police station. (KNS)
