While managing to give slip to place, Independent legislator Engineer Rashid on Monday appeared at Mendhar Town of Poonch to carry on his signature campaign over ban on beef in the state.

According to GNS, people in the Town were surprised to see the Rashid and within no time he managed to gather a large crowd. Witnesses said hundreds of people signed on the banners seeking scrapping of laws prohibiting beef ban.

While addressing people, Rashid targeted the ruling coalition in state and said the diktats of RSS and other Hindutva parties will not be allowed to get implemented in the Muslim majority state.

Sources said the Rashid was earlier in Surankote area of the Poonch district and from there he came to Mendhar.

During Rashid’s stay in Mendhar Town, the police authorities were on toes and were seen asking him to leave the place. However, Rashid didn’t pay any heed to their repeated requests and visited several places in Mendhar area and its adjoining villages.
