The “blessed and fertile” land of Kashmir has inspired Turkish Filmmaker Selma Koksal to come all the way from the Southeast European country to participate in the International Film Festival of Kashmir (IFFK) 2014, which is her first visit to conflict ridden state of Jammu and Kashmir, a statement said.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Selma expressed her pleasure to be part of the festival organized by Experimental Moving Images and Theatre Association (XMITA) from August 18, it claimed.
“This is great feeling to be part of the festival and exchange my ideas and experiences with audience and students. This festival also gives us the platform to know different culture and languages of the world,” Selma told reporters.
The statement further informed that Selma will conduct Master Class with the students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) and University of Kashmir on August 22 in the Cultural Academy hall at 11am and IUST Auditorium at 2pm the same day. Besides, there are few more participants including amateur filmmakers and college students.
Pramod Payyanur, director of Malyalam feature film Balyakalasakhi which was also screened in IFFK-2014 said that his participation in the film festival gave him the morale booster as standard of the festival is first-class.
“As a young filmmaker, this was my first participation in any international festival. This will definitely open new ways for m,” he said.
“The all time classic love story of Majeed and Suhra was enacted by veteran actor Mammootty and Isha Talwar.”
This was the concluding media briefing of the IFFK 2014 which will conclude on Saturday with the grand award ceremony at SKICC at 4pm, the statement added.
