Speaker appeals Udhampur voters to ‘teach Mankotia a lesson’

The last session of the existing assembly started here on Monday with an obituary reference of those former lawmakers who died since last session of the legislature.


However, in the absence of all the BJP members MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia protested against what he called “unprovoked” shelling of Pakistan on borders.


Mankotia had come wearing a black band on his head and he started protesting against Pakistan. Though the Speaker, Mubarak Gul told him that the firing issue was related to the union ministry of defense however he came into the well of house and started protesting.


He speaker directed the assembly marshals to take him away and as he was being marshaled out, the speaker appealed the voters of Udhampur to “teach Mankotia a lesson” in the elections for disrupting obituary reference.


The house witnessed a very low attendance of the members as all the BJP members remained absent while as Mankotia was also the lone present member from his party. Opposition leader and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti was also absent who was elected in the last LS elections along with another PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
