According to a government press release, in order to ensure smooth and hassle free coverage of ensuing Autumn Assembly Session commencing from 25th of this month and to disseminate its proceedings properly to the best satisfaction of general public, the Media Advisory Meeting was held here Thursday under the chairmanship of the Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues relating to coverage of the session and of facilities to media persons.
The Speaker urged upon the media fraternity, both print and electronic, to ensure smooth coverage of the Assembly Session, adding the media is the 4th pillar of democracy, is the only source to reach out to the public.
Gul said that media persons would be provided all latest facilities of communication for dissemination of news stories of Assembly proceedings.
The Speaker said that the Director Information and Secretary Assembly are working in close coordination for ensuring smooth media coverage of the proceedings of Assembly Session.
The other issues which were discussed in the meeting included accommodation of the media persons from Jammu region, and the Speaker directed Director Hospitality & Protocol to ensure adequate accommodation for the visiting Journalist of Jammu at the circuit house Srinagar.
Secretary legislative Assembly, Mohammad Ramzan said that the wi-fi system will be connected within one or two days to facilitate the media persons. He said Media Centre in the Assembly complex shall also be upgraded to meet the needs of the media persons.
Among others who attended the meeting included Inspector General of Police (Security) Mubarak Ahmad Ganai, and IGP Traffic Muneer Ahmad Khan, Director Information Tasaduq Jeelani, Deputy Director News Doordarshan Srinagar, Deputy Director Information (PR), Peerzada Zahoor Ahmad besides heads of various print and electronic media agencies.
