Valley shuts against arrests

Shutdown disturbed normal life in Kashmir on Thursday against the detention of youth.


The shutdown call has been given by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani.


According to Hurriyat (G), hundreds of youth were arrested before and after the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls throughout the valley and many have been slapped with PSA.


As per police sources only those youths are under detention who are involved in stone pelting cases.


Many separatist leaders like Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Ayaz Akbar are among the detained people.


Meanwhile, shops, business establishments and educational institutions are closed, while government offices and banks recorded thin attendance.


Public transport is off the roads however, private vehicles are plying normally.


Reports of shutdown have reached from all the ten district of the valley.
