Poll results no surprise: Ratanpuri

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Former Member Parliament and senior National Conference leader, Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri Thursday said that the elections results in Kashmir were not unexpected for him as the party leadership failed to reach out to the people. Ratanpuri, however, hoped that the party will bounce back and it will come out victorious in the coming Assembly elections.

He told CNS that the feedback that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is seeking from common people will help party to learn lessons and it will prove beneficial in the long run.

Ratanpuri said the random arrest of youth on the charges of stone-pelting cost the party heavily. “There is no fun in lodging minors on the charges of stone-pelting into jails and it is not fear to muzzle the voice of the youth and even didn’t allow them to share their views on social media network,” he said.

He said that not speaking of common people even NC party workers complained that party Minister closed their doors for them ever since they assumed the charged of any portfolio. “We committed some mistakes but we are hopeful that the party will bounce back. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is taking pains and he is giving a patient hearing to every party worker,” he said adding that recently concluded Lok Sabha elections taught NC many things and the party will go to people with a different mindset and approach.
