KL Report

SRINAGAR

In a bid to foil ‘Eidgah Chalo’ program of Hurriyat Conference (M) to commemorate the death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone, authorities have decided to impose restrictions in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of seven police stations of Old Srinagar City.

A top police official told CNS that restrictions would remain in force in the areas falling under the police station Nowhatta, Maharajgunj, Khanyar, Rainawari, Zadibal, Safakadal and Kralkhud. He said that authorities have taken all possible measures to thwart any kind of protests on May 21. Confirming it, District administration spokesperson said that restrictions will be in place in these seven police stations.

Pertinently, authorities early Tuesday morning placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest while some other leaders of the amalgam have either been arrested or placed under house detention.
