With Kashmir valley witnessing complete shutdown against the civilian killing late last evening, reports of stone pelting and tear gas shelling have reached from Bandipora, Pulwama, Pampore and Ompora Budgam on Thursday.
Reports coming from North Kashmir’s Bandipora town said that soon after news of Bashir’s killing reached the town, protests and stone pelting started. The protests continued till late in the evening. The reports said that since today morning protests and stone pelting resumed and was going on till the reports last came in.
“Protests started again in the morning and stone pelting and tear gas shelling is going on,” a local from the area told Kashmir Life.
Reports of stone pelting also come from Ompora area of Budgam. Locals said that heavy stone pelting and tear gas shelling took place in the area.
In South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Pampore towns, also violent protests took place and the protesters pelted rocks on the men in uniform.
Meanwhile the traffic is off the roads in the said areas while cops and youth are engaged in ding dong battles.
Pertinently, a youth namely Bashir Ahmad was killed in firing by armed forces in Old city Srinagar last evening.
Immediately after Bashir’s killing, authorities imposed curfew in the city areas coming under seven police stations.
Reports coming from the down town area of Srinagar city said that heavy deployment of cops and para-military forces have been made to “maintain law and order.”
