Protests, tear gas shelling in Palhallan

Severe clashes have erupted in volatile Palhallan village of Baramulla district Wednesday afternoon.


Pertinently, North Kashmir’s Baramulla Lok Sabha seat is witnessing polling today.


So far, no vote has been cast in Palhallan. The area has been witnessing shutdowns and protests for a long time now.


Reports reaching here said that the entire area is following boycott call of elections.


“Heavy tear gas shelling is going on,” a resident of the area said. He added that protests are going on the area while heavy forces are manning the streets.


Stone pelting is going on while protesters are shouting pro freedom slogans, the reports said.


Early Wednesday morning, police said that it recovered some explosive in the area which was later defused.


Sources said that it was a bang of grenade. They added that a CRPF man was injured in the blast.
