Protest rocks KU against Dr Lone’s arrest

Hundreds of Kashmir University students Monday held protests in the campus against police for arresting Dr Ghulam Qadir Lone of Hudipora, Rafiabad in South Kashmir’s Baramulla district.


Renowned scholar and noted writer, Lone was arrested on May 2.


The students gathered near the Iqbal Library and raised anti-police, anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.


The protesters were holding placards reading slogans like, “release Dr Lone”, “stop arrests” and “stop killings”.


Dr Lone is a PhD in Islamic Studies from Aligarh Muslim University and has many international publications to his credit.


Police have also arrested hundreds of youngsters from every nook and corner of the valley since the start of Lok Sabha election season.
