In the search operation conducted by joint group of police and jail authorities in district jail Baramulla, the police officials claim to have “busted a separatist network”.
A senior cop told Kashmir Life that “we unearthed major separatist network from the jail.”
As police claims to have recovered around 14 cell-phones besides material used to “instigate” people, a middle rung police officer told Kashmir Life that “two cell-phones were recovered from Masrat Alam”.
Masrat Alam who is under continuous detention was the man behind the 2010 protests in valley.
The official said that “this network was possibly used to as a link between their handlers in Pakistan and people in valley.”
The reports suggest that police came did the search operation after recently suspected militants threatened an official of Baramulla jail at his residence and also set afire his vehicle in central Kashmir.
The official speaking to Kashmir Life said “the protests in valley were partly managed by this network.”
He said further investigation would be held to know how these cell-phones and the material got inside the jail and who is helping the inmates to manage the network.
Another police official said “this is a serious lapse.”
Meanwhile police spokesman issued statement wherein they said that FIR has been registered and investigation is on as to how these articles which are not authorised as per jail manual have made entry into jail premises.
