SRINAGAR: J&K Police have formally charged army in the human shield case, a news website reported. However, the police investigations have neither made any arrest nor identified the particular unit that is involved in the case.
Reports appearing in the media said that police have briefed State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) that they have initiated action in the incident and registered a case against the Indian Army under sections 342, 367 and 506 RPC. Besides, the police have also furnished evidence of seven witnesses who have testified that the soldiers tied Farooq Ahmad Dar to the bonnet of their jeep on April 9.
On basis of the evidences the police have registered a case of wrongful confinement.

Currently suffering from serious mental ailments, Dar was admitted to SMHS. Doctors said it will take him some time to get closer to normal.
Police has stated that they are in touch with the army authorities and there has been some correspondence as well. The communication is aimed at identifying the particular unit involved in the case, reports said.
