Police has received more than one lakh applications for 5,300 vacancies of in Jammu and Kashmir, as per officials. On Thursday police held a recruitment drive in Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium where hundreds of youth participated.

“We have 5,300 vacancies in J&K police. We had put out advertisements of the recruitment drive three months ago. 1,18,000 people applied for the posts,” DIG J&K Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat told a news agency.
In these applications around 50,000 have been received from Kashmir valley. In Srinagar itself 2,800 people have applied, the official said.
Pertinently the process of selection as per official is managed by an outside agency and is fully computerized.
The test for recruitment was held in two stages: a physical endurance test and then a written test.
For physical endurance test, boys had to run and do push ups, while girls had to run and throw shot puts.
