No trace of PDP in BJP dominated PM’s function at Udhampur

What was promised to be an official function of the PDP-BJP coalition government turned out to be a completely pro-BJP affair. It was more a BJP rally and less an official function.

The announcer at the mike was from Doordarshan but in his excitement could not stop himself from terming BJP, the only nationalist party in the country and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first politician who has taken developmental issues of Jammu and Kashmir extremely seriously.

The Modi ground in Battal Ballian area of Udhampur was full to the capacity with workers of BJP. There was not even trace of PDP in the rally which the two coalition partners had claimed would be a joint show since it was an official function and not an election rally.

Slogans of ‘Har-Har-Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’ kept resonating in the air. This was followed by chants of ‘Modi, Modi, Modi, Modi’. There was not even mention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and PWD minister Naeem Akhtar in the entire programme. Apart from the CM and his PWD Minister, no other PDP minister was present in the function while all the BJP cabinet ministers were present.

And when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached at the venue of rally along with Governor N.N.Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, announcers of Doordarshan  forgot that it was supposed to be official function.

MOS in the PMO Dr Jatinder Singh spoke for a few minutes but forgot to take note of the presence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. He spoke at length about Prime Minister and his charisma but made no mention of the state government and its two PDP representatives.
