Taking cognizance of a news report appearing in a section of the press regarding electrocution of PDD employee, Tahir Ahmad Malik (45) of Khali Payeen, Baramulla, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sought a detailed report from PDD in the matter.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary SHRC, taking suo-moto cognizance of the news report, SHRC chairperson Justice (retd) Bilal Nazki has sought a detailed report, within one week, from the Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir and Superintending Engineer, PDD Circle Baramulla regarding the incident.
According to the news report, working as a Lineman in PDD, Malik was electrocuted while repairing a transformer at Khali Payeen on 5 April 2017 and he is presently undergoing medical treatment at SKIMS Soura where his two hands have been amputated.
