Srinagar: A book exhibition and guest lectures were organized at Kashmir University’s South Campus to mark the World Book Day. The theme of the events was ‘Books build Bridges.’
In his message on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi said libraries form a very important component of university’s teaching-learning system and “we are committed to provide best library facilities to our students and scholars.” He congratulated the South Campus administration, particularly its library staff, for holding the Book Day events.
Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri, Director South Campus promised the faculty and students of providing a vibrant learning environment, supported by an excellent library system with proper reading and browsing facilities.
Dr A M Baba, Librarian at KU’s Allama Iqbal Library (AIL) stressed that libraries need to be linked to information technology systems for easy access and better results.
Humma (Incharge Library) at South Campus welcomed the dignitaries and participants and introduced the theme of the Book Day.
The Book Exhibition showcased new titles and special collections available with leading publishers. Certificates and gifts were given to most frequent visitors of the library to encourage students to make greater use of library services.
The event was attended by faculty and students of South Campus and Research Scholars from DLIS.
