As Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned back to New-Delhi after inaugurating Nashri- Chenani tunnel on the Sunday, hundreds of BJP workers protested outside the tunnel for not allowing them to pass through.
The 9.2 kilometer long was formally thrown open on Sunday afternoon by Modi.
Later he addressed a public gathering that was attended by a large number of people including BJP workers and supporters.
After PM left, the workers who had come from Ramban side were barred from passing through the tunnel to return back and instead were directed to follow Patnitop route. The tunnel is going to be thrown open for traffic on Monday morning.
However, the workers in hundreds of vehicles begun sloganeering against the administration and demanded passage through the tunnel.
Eyewitnesses said that they were rising anti-administration slogans for not allowing them.
“The workers holding BJP flags were out crying Modi Modi, tunnel sai Janai doh,” said a commuter on way to Jammu.
The more than one-hour protest lead to a massive traffic jam on the highway as the workers refused requests of authorities to pass from Patnitop.
Later, authorities allowed the protesting workers to pass through the tunnel.
