Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Tuesday convened a high level meeting to review the arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha here.
Taking a detailed review of the logistic and security arrangements put in place in all the districts of Jammu division especially around Eidgahs, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed on making adequate arrangements with respect to water and power supply, sanitation, healthcare and traffic management. He laid special focus on curbing profiteering and black marketing of the essential commodities, an official statement said this evening.
While taking a review of the security arrangements, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed on the Police to make all arrangements for ensuring peaceful Eid-ul Azha in the Division.
“Pluralism and religious harmony is the bedrock of Jammu and Kashmir’s identity and strengthening communal amity and brotherhood are the pre-requisites for the development of the State,” Deputy Chief Minister said.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir is a beautiful amalgam of pluralistic religion and cultural belief and this social fabric is strengthened when we celebrate our festivals together adding that festivals are not only a time for celebrations and gaiety but they also exhibit the true essence of our rich culture and foster the sense of togetherness.
Appreciating the Muslim Federation Jammu for their gesture by asking all the communities to maintain communal amity, the Deputy Chief Minister urged all socio-religious organizations to come together and strengthen the cords of brotherhood, peace and harmony in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister also stressed on the role of media in maintaining peace in collaboration with the police and administration.
