Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Tuesday inaugurated the 4.50 MGD Bamzoo Water Supply Scheme, funded under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small & Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) in South Kashmir’s Islamabad
The scheme is expected to augment water supply in Islamabad town and adjoining areas with around 1.12 lakh people having access to safe drinking water.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 45.96 crore, Bamzoo Water Supply Scheme, sourced from Ahrigol and Mulsoo springs as well as Lidder nullah, is likely to benefit 52 habitations which include areas like Paibugh, Iqbalabad, Kadipora, Laizbal, Anchidora, Nandpors, Batpora, Lidder Mouth, Khanabal, Batangoo, Pushwara, Reshibazar, Achabal, Mehndi Kadal, Donipawa, Mominabad, Dabruna and Ashajipora.
The work on the scheme was started by PHE Department in 2009 and its distribution network reportedly spreads over an area of 16.25 km.
Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, A. R. Veeri and Minister for PHE, I&FC, Sukhnandan Kumar accompanied the Chief Minister.
