A day long youth convention of PDP was held at Beerwah, constituency of ex-CM and NC working president Omar Abdullah, of District Budgam.
PDP youth president and Political Analyst in Chief Minister’s office Waheed Ur Rehman Para chaired the session.
Para interacted with the youth of the area who presented a memorandum of demands which included proper drinking water, electricity, medical facilities and posting of teachers in nearby vicinity
After concluding the youth convention, he also visited Government Degree College, Beerwah and interacted with the staff members and the students.
He also took stock of the facilities being provided to the students. Para said it is important to improve the quality of education and stressed on promoting extracurricular activities like conducting debates, interstate competitions in the colleges for over all development of students.
Ex-MLA Beerwah, Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani was also present on the occasion. While interacting with the students they asked for an auditorium, laboratory block and additional infrastructure for the college. Dr Shafi assured them that their genuine concerns will be soon addressed.
Later interacting with media-persons on the occasion, Para said that it is endeavour of the present Government to provide infrastructure and conducive environment in educational institutions. He said Government will take all possible measures to improve academic standards and enrolment in the colleges and schools especially in rural and far flung areas.
On the demands raised by the inhabitants of the area, Para assured them to look into their grievances and the Beerwah will be developed on fast track basis under the leadership of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
