President National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said that NC will continue its struggle to seek political stability and lasting peace in the State adding that power has never been the objective of National Conference but a means to seek peaceful and developed Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering of party workers, who called on him here today, Dr Farooq reminded the party rank and file of the “greatest sacrifices made by National Conference and its leadership to uphold communal amity, regional unity, equitable opportunity of growth, inclusive development and permanent peace in the state”.
Dr Farooq said that the political and development policy of National Conference enshrined in its vision document of “Naya Kashmir” provides a viable and befitting road map for the equitable development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides political stability and lasting peace.
The National Conference President while underlying the importance of sorting out all issues across the table by India and Pakistan, called for early resumption of talks by the two to discuss issues across the table which he said is imperative to bring thaw in the relations of the two countries. He said the animosity between the two neighbours is highly detrimental to the peace, and all its brunt has to be borne by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He referred to the border skirmishes and called for immediate ceasefire adding that this has made the life of border people miserable and resulted in the loss of precious human lives and the property.
Dr Farooq Abdullah asked the workers to gear-up all across the state and be closely connected with the people. “You have to remain with the people at the grassroots, share their problems and seek the redressal of grievances at various levels”, he told the office bearers of National Conference asking them to encourage youngsters seeking guidance from the elders.
President, National Conference asked the workers to strengthen the hands of Omar Abdullah in his efforts aimed at achieving the goal of peaceful and developed Jammu and Kashmir with plenty of opportunities for people particularly youth. He said youth has always been the force of National conference and it always nurtured young people positively. He said elders and youngsters have to work jointly to carry forward the NCs agenda for peace and development in the State.
