As part of the promotional campaign for its two-day conclave “Kashmir’s 7 September: Commemorating the Past, Celebrating our Resilience”, the Centre for Research and Development Policy (CRDP) Wednesday afternoon organised a road show in a double-decker bus.

“People from different walks of life, including students of Mass Communication and Journalism, law and Social Welfare, participated in the road show which started from Sangarmal shopping mall at 3 pm,” a CRDP statement said Wednesday late evening.

“We received a decent response to our road show. Our volunteers did a wonderful job in promoting the two-day program scheduled for 6 and 7 September,” said Dr Suhail Masoodi, director CRDP.

Volunteers of Kashmir’s 7 September distributed free entry passes for its two-day programme among students in the University of Kashmir, Hazratbal campus. The bus plied on Boulevard and Foreshore road to reach the KU campus where young artist Ali performed to promote the program aimed to salute the valour and celebrate the resilience of people of Kashmir.

Earlier on 31 August, the CRDP held a symbolic candle light vigil at Press Enclave, Srinagar to acknowledge the efforts of Kashmir’s Brave Hearts who did outstanding rescue, relief and rehabilitation works during and after the 2014 floods.

“All preparations for our program ‘Kashmir’s 7 September: commemorating the past, celebrating our resilience’ are in full swing. Before our two-day conclave on 6 and 7 September we want to promote the event through symbolic vigils and road shows to keep the momentum going,” the CRDP statement said.

With an aim to acknowledge the resilience of people, groups and communities involved in rescue, relief work and rehabilitation during and after the floods, CRDP is organising its programme at Gandhi Bhavan and Convocation Hall of the University of Kashmir on 6 and 7 September. “This includes a seminar on five different themes, and photo exhibition, drawing competition, people’s narratives and three-hour long award ceremony.”
