Kausar Nag Row: Official Documents Belie Govt claims

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Kausar Nag

Jammu & Kashmir Government a day earlier claimed that it has never permitted any Hindu Yatra for Kausar Nag, however, official documents reveal that Deputy Commissioner Kulgam in its Order No. DCK/PA/2014-15/550-56 dated July 21, 2014 had not only permitted the controversial Yatra but also directed fool-proof security arrangements for the Yatris.

“Providing of fool-proof security to Yatris from Kakran to Kausar Nag during forth coming Kausar Nag Yatra from July 30 to August 3,” subject of the order reads.

Sources said that the copies of the said order were sent to Commanding Officer 62 RR Behighbagh for arranging tented accommodation for Yatris at Kungewatan Base Camp, Chief Medical Officer Kulgam for deputing medical teams with Yatra, Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, District Forest Officer Kulgam and Tehsildar DH Pora Kulgam for information and necessary action.

All these officials were directed on the government level through Deputy Commissioner Kulgam to make all necessary arrangements for the Kousar Nag Yatris.

Pertinently, after protests against annual Yatra to Kousar Nag tourist spot of Kulgam district, the state government has distanced itself from the controversial issue.

“We had not given any permission to any Yatra in Kousar Nag area so the question of suspending it under separatists’ pressure does not arise,” Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister G A Mir said while talking to a local news gathering agency.
