A group of Kashmiri pandits Friday submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Rajnath Singh against the state government decision of not allowing them to proceed towards Kousar Nag.
The delegation also met Minister of State for PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is also a member in Lok Sabha from Udhampur, and demanded an explanation over the step taken by the state government.
Sources said that the central government has sought a report from the Omar government while asking why the trip from the Aharbal route was cancelled.
Vinod Pandit, All Party Migration Coordination Committee (APMCC), has reportedly alleged that the government has acted under pressure from separatists. “The J&K government acted under pressure from the separatists and sacrificed our Yatra (Kousarnag),” Vinod said.
Pertinently, a series of protests are being held in the valley against the Kousar Nag Hindu Yatra and the masses are alleging it an attempt to “change the demography of Kashmir.”
Meanwhile, Kashmiri Pandits in the US have sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue. The Kashmiri Overseas Association (KOA) in a letter to Modi and Rajnath Singh urged that the Kousar Nag Yatra should be allowed to continue with immediate effect.
