SRINAGAR
The Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) Tuesday, for the first time, held elections for the post of president at District Information Office, Baramulla, in which more than 35 journalists of the district participated.
BWJA under the banner of North Kashmir Journalist Association held the elections in which Sajad Hussain Pir – a corresponded with Hyderabad based ETV network was elected as President.
Hussain is Baramulla based correspondent of ETV network, and has also previously worked in the Srinagar centre of Doordarshan, during the peak days of insurgency.
Earlier, he was also associated with Radio Kashmir Srinagar. He has completed engineering from Institute of Mechanical engineers, Bombay. And presently covers north Kashmir for ETV network.
The race for the post of the president was between three candidates Sajad Hussain ETV Udru, Shahid Imran Greater Jammu, and Gulzar Ahmed Zargar CNI.
The election was conducted and observed by noted journalist Altaf Baba of Greater Kashmir, and under the supervision of officials of District Information Office Baramulla.
It was also decided that fresh elections for parent association –North Kashmir Journalist Association would be held near future after proper consultation with associations of Bandipora, Kupwara, Handwara, Tangmarg, Uri and Pattan.
