The three Hizb militants killed in a gunfight at Tral, on Thursday were laid to rest amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans as thousands of people on Friday attended their funeral.

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants including the outfit’s Divisional Commander were killed in an encounter with forces in Tral yesterday.

The slain militants were all local Hizb cadres of Tral, police said. They were identified as Adil Shah of Dadsara village, a Divisional Commander of HM, Adil Mir of Rathsuna and Tariq Parray of Laribal.

Sources said Adil Mir, a B.Tech pass out from IUST was active for the past four years. His brother, Nayeem Mir, a Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) from IUST, was also killed by forces in an encounter last year.

Adil Shah, a graduate, was also active for the past four years while Tariq Ahmad Parray, a post-graduate in Political Science, had joined militancy only eight months back.

According to police, Adil Mir had joined the outfit in 2010.

Meanwhile Tral and its peripheries observed complete shutdown Friday to mourn the death of the three local militants.
