Geelani calls for shutdown in Sopore tomorrow

Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has called for a shutdown in Sopore tomorrow on June 4, 2014 against the killing of a youth in firing by police and CRPF.


“Geelani has termed the firing incident as the worst kind of state terrorism,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar said adding “ Geelani Sahab has paid tributes to both the martyrs and called upon people of Sopore to observe complete shutdown in the area against these killings.


“Geelani sahib addressed the protesting people by phone and exhibited solidarity with the bereaved family of Arshid Ahmad Shah who was killed in firing,” Akbar said.


One civilian was killed while many were injured as police and forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and firing to disperse the protesters at the encounter site at Krankeshivan on Monday.
