One civilian was killed while many were injured as police and forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and firing to disperse the protesters at the encounter site at Krankeshivan on Monday.
Reports said that after the encounter ended people of the area resorted to protests against. “The protesters resorted to stone pelting on police and their vehicles,” police sources said.
Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Life that police and forces used tear smoke shells and firing to disperse the protesters. “Irshad Ahmad Shah (30) of Seer, Sopore was hit by a bullet and died on way to hospital,” they said.
Many others were also injured in the police action however not seriously, sources said.
Earlier, only one body was recovered from the encounter site at Krankeshivan, Sopore while as the local militant Javed Ahmad Matto managed to escape from the site. The body was identified as Mahmood Bhai, of Pakistan by police sources.
