Azad Faces Music For Staking Credit Of Sibal’s Article 370 Arguments

SRINAGAR: DPAP Chief Ghulam Nabi Azad has evoked strong criticism on social media with his comments on the supreme court hearings regarding the reading down of Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Azad in a Tweet while lauding the efforts of Kapil Sibal said that they have been fighting from Parliament to the Supreme Court, in pursuit of justice for the people of J&K.

“Gratitude for the brilliant efforts of Kapil Sibal sahib as he fearlessly & eloquently presented the crucial issue of Article 370 in SC today. We have been unwaveringly fighting from Parliament to the Supreme Court, in pursuit of justice for the people of J&K. With unwavering hope and anticipation, we look to the SC to deliver fair judgment for the rightful aspirations of the people,” Azad said.

Kapil Sabil, who represents the petitioner and National Conference MP Mohammad Akbar Lone, started the arguments on the day first of the SC hearing.

The tweet did not go down well with the National conference leaders who were quick to respond and slam Azad for taking credit of Sibal’s Article 370 arguments. Chief spokesperson NC Tanvir Sadiq asked Ghulam Nabi Azad to refrain his party leaders from spreading misinformation & lies about Sibal representing his party.

“You’re absolutely correct, Azad Sahab. We should express our gratitude to KapilSibal Sahab for his exceptional ability in presenting facts to the Hon. CJI and esteemed Judges. However, I would humbly suggest that your party leaders refrain from spreading misinformation & lie about Mr. Sibal representing your party. He is actually representing the JKNC through Mr. Akbar Lone. As for what was said in URI. I repeat your words- “Tell me now who is lying and deceiving the people,” Tanveer Sadiq said in a Tweet.

NC spokesperson Imran Dar said that Azad is neither a petitioner nor an applicant in Article 370 case.

“GN Azad is neither a petitioner nor an applicant in Art 370 case. Kapil Sibal sb is not his counsel. Except for a brief call to Sibal sb, DPAP has made no substantial effort to participate in the proceedings. He stated he’s appearing on behalf of our party MP Mohammad Akbar Lone”, NC spokesman Imran Dar tweeted.
